No religion should be above the national law

Reader comment on item: Don't Bring That Booze into My Taxi

Submitted by Act Now (United States), Oct 10, 2006 at 18:59

Freedom of speech and religion has gone too far. In a democratic secular society religious law cannot supercede national laws. Thus man made laws by the Congress should stand above "God" made laws of Sharia in public domain. If Muslim taxi drivers don't want to drink, that is entirely their prerogative whether it is for health reasons or because their Allah told them to do so. but they MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO REFUSE SERVICE TO anyone because he is not following sharia. Till the time the Muslims have majority in this country we should be able to live a normal life.

How long will that last is another issue. If the current trend continues and we keep on bending over backwards, it may not be too long.
