...and with Muslims, they never will.

So, it seems that they may be on the verge of learning lesson #1. But, as far as the notion that...

"Obtaining the same rights for Christians in Islamdom that Muslims enjoy in Christendom has become the key to the Vatican's diplomacy toward Muslims."

...we are poised to have to learn lesson #2.

Not only can't you reason with the delusional, you can't make demands of them based on reality, either. As we read what Dr.Sanity has to say on denial...

"Nothing--and I mean NOTHING--not facts, not observable behavior; not the use of reason or logic; or their own senses will make an individual in denial reevaluate that world view. All events will simply be reinterpreted to fit into the belief system of that world --no matter how ridiculous , how distorted , or how psychotic that reinterpretation appears to others. Consistency , common sense, reality, and objective truth are unimportant and are easily discarded--as long as the world view remains intact."

..or on what she has to on Islamic paranoia ...

"What really is obvious is that there are many leaders and followers of Islam who are living in a paranoid delusion of massive proportions."

But, regarding the violence that is covered and at the same time engendered by their paranoid delusions, we will have to deal with the unpleasant reality of their stubborn refusal to deal with reality ,

"The unwillingness of Islam to face it('s) own brutality and uncontrollable murderous rage is merely the primitive denial of projection and paranoia. It allows them to continue their self-deception that Islam is a religion of peace and that they are victims of the rage and insidious plotting of nefarious forces."

Now the question is, how will they respond when confronted with demands that don't fit their paranoid-delusional world-view? Will they become exponentially more violent? If we, who they see as inferiors, make what seem to us as reasonable demands for their behavior modification, but to them seem like aggressive attacks against their "rights," will their response make their Danish cartoon Jihad seem like tea with the queen?

Before one can indulge in a civilized rational give and take, one must first be civilized and rational. There is a very good reason why Islam is unable to make any progress whatever in accomodating others. Until that fact, and all it's ramafications together with what must be done to effectively deal with it, are fully appreciated, the situation will only continue to deteriorate.

That is made clearer when one realizes that, as Mark Steyn observes,

" What, in the end, are all these supposedly unconnected matters about -- from Danish cartoons to the murder of a Dutch film-maker to gender-segregated swimming sessions in French municipal pools? Answer: sovereignty. Islam claims universal jurisdiction, and always has. The only difference is the Islamics now act upon it."

Hence, the ultimate in denial. They want it all, because they believe they are destined to have it all. The only way they will ever stop pursuing Jihad for World conquest with the goal of imposing Sharia on everyone, is if they can be shown unequivocally that they are wrong. Are we up to that task? If we don't know what we are up against ; how will we ever know how to effectively combat it?

Oh, yes, and the need to be united in our resistance is essential. Unfortunately, a large Leftist segment of the West suffers from the very same disease as Islam: as if the battle wasn't hard enough without that added twist.
