Catholic ChurchReader comment on item: The Vatican Confronts Islam Submitted by Northern Gryphon (Canada), Aug 18, 2008 at 16:04 The many atrocities Catholics and other Christians committed in the past, sometimes under the claim that it was all done for Christ, went against Christian precepts. In retrospect, it seems obvious those acts were evil and, at best, misguided. But the point is that they acted in a manner contrary to Church precepts, and over time Christians came to realise this and the Church wants to make sure it doesn't happen again. This stands in stark contrast with Muslim terrorism, which conforms to Islamic teaching. This means there is no religious imperative for the Islam to stop committing atrocities and to evolve into a peaceful, tolerant entity.
