Reader comment on item: Did Michael Jackson Convert to Islam?

Ibrahim is right. Why all this fuss about Michael's conversion to Islam? There are hundreds others who are converting to Islam every day. Why doesn't anyone mention them? I think I may know why? Because they are ordinary people and it won't be possible to smear them. But Michael's life is an open book, one of the price you have to pay for achieving celebrity status. So it is much easier to attack Michael and through his frailties attempt to attack Islam. As far as I am concerned I am not overjoyed, and I am not unhappy either. I believe it is a private matter between Michael and God and that is how it should remain.

Is it true that he converted into the Nation of Islam? I thought he had converted to Islam. Nation of Islam is an organisation of Black American Muslims. Ibrahim is right. They are not a sect of Islam. In fact, certain arguments of the Nation of Islam would be against the central beliefs in Islam which does not entertain any argument based on race.

As to Ibrahim's urge to eradicate Islam, I say good luck! Many have tried and many no doubt will continue to do it. I'll leave Ibrahim to ponder two questions: what is the population of Muslims in the world today? and what is the fastest growing religion in the world today?
