AKP REGIME IS ISLAMIZING A SECULAR COUNTRY NOT, REFORMING A RELIGION

Reader comment on item: Is Turkey's Government Starting a Muslim Reformation?

Submitted by Secular Turk (United States), May 21, 2008 at 21:10

According to the above article, "one of the project's 85 theology professors ... explains [the so-called reform intiative's] goal: 'The Koran is our basic guide. Anything that conflicts with that, we are trying to eliminate.'"

Does that sound "somewhat akin to the Christian Reformation" to you?

We cannot agree more with the article's conclusion that, "by limiting its subject matter, the project might forward Islamism more than modernize Islam. True reform awaits true reformers – not Islamist functionaries but independent, modern individuals intent on aligning Islam with the best of modern mores.

Kemal Ataturk was such a true reformist and he already instituted true Reform Islam when he founded the Turkish Republic as the world's first secular-democratic state composed of a Muslim population.

There can be no true "Moderate" Islam other than Ataturk's secular-democratic Turkey and the US State Dept gets it all wrong by currently supporting AKP's machinations in Turkey.

In the context of a secular country such as Turkey, instituting any "Moderate" Islam, as the AKP sees it, can only serve as a transitional step to full Islamization, pure and simple.

Is the US State Department knee-deep in a mind-boggling "unholy alliance" with the European Left on one hand and Wahhabi Islamists on the other, currently promoting the Islamization of Turkey under the guise of so-called 'Moderate' Islam?

Turkey's Islamist Erdogan government continues to exploit his country's unlikely EU membership in order to systematically erode the power of the country's pro-Western and secular forces, including the Military which for decades has stood as the sole guardian of Turkey's secular democracy against creeping Islamization.

Everything that happens in terms of Islam and politics in Turkey since 1970 -- when Saudi-surrogate, and Mr Erdogan's mentor, Necmettin Erbakan launched his political career -- has been guided by a Wahhabi agenda and funding. And everything that happens in terms of Wahhabi Islamism in the world is based on one long-term goal: Restoration of the Islamic Caliphate and the forging of a Wahhabi-led renewed Islamic Empire extending from the Indian Ocean all the way to the Atlantic.

But until the Islamization of Turkey is fully accomplished, no Wahhabi Islamist can get his hands on the Caliphate Seal -- and accompanying Holy Relics -- which, since the abolition of the Ottoman Caliphate by Kemal Ataturk in 1924, remain a prized possession in the hands of the Turkish Republic's secular guardians. That is why the Islamization of Turkey is such a top-priority target of Wahhabi Islamists, and one that is cardinal enough to orchestrate the whole deception of a EU membership.

If, due to the domestic "carte blanche" accorded to Mr Erdogan during the coming 10-15 years of his country's EU candidacy process, Turkey's regime is lost to Islamism, in line with long-term Wahhabi strategy and as implemented by the Erdogan regime, not only Turkey, but also Western interests and Middle East stability are bound to suffer a collapse that will make the Iranian debacle pale by comparison.

In midst of the War on Terror, what business does the US State Department have picking the wrong side, again?

And what is Bush foreign policy doing, playing strange bedfellows to Europe's anti-Christian Left and the world's Wahhabi Islamists?
