However, it could be translated as an authorisation to never-Jewish Christians that they do not have to give-up pork, or other treif foods such as duck/goose, lobster/crawdad/crab/shrimp, krait/cobra/viper (consumed in India's northeastern states), ...

(FYI, I personally believe--and this was corroborated in an old Garner Ted Armstrong broadcast, which detailed the negative consequences of various treif items--that God gave the dietary laws for good reason)
