Response to proud Indian.Reader comment on item: Is Turkey's Government Starting a Muslim Reformation? Submitted by Bengali (Bangladesh), Jan 7, 2009 at 05:42 Proud Indian, Any doubt without a valid evidence gets you nowhere. The reason you find NUNs not wearing headscarves in Kerala, Mumbai and in other places is that Christianity , in essense, is not set in stone! Over the centuries authorities like the present Vatican have modified, altered and reformed the religious doctrines including the sacred scriptures to adapt to the contempory issues that regulate people's lives. Say, for instance, christianity at present has no reservation in having gay or lesbian priest, meaning homosexuality well accommodated into christian theology!! So, the question remains, a religion will regulate societal norms, values, customs or the other way around? Cheers!
