Perhaps because you are ignorant of what had happened in history it is easy then for Oliver to malign Islam as "zero" or nothing worthy of it. but he is also very aware that it is Islam who introduced the concept of zero as a number in europe. Had Oliver used his brain he will realize inded that Islam is not "zero" in worth but he would rather thank Islam and its profound love of knowledge that Muslims never burned the books of the Indus as the way the Roman Catholics in europe burned the books of the pagan greeks, hence resulting in the dark ages of europe in which almost all christians there are ignorant of scientific knowledge! That time during the dark ages is what can be truly called "zero" or nothing worthy in western christianity! During that time, Islamic world had the most advanced and sophisticated civilization and europe was badly left behind!

For your information Oliver, it is Islam who saved the scientific achievements of the ancient world and developed/improved those knowledge into actual use, while western europe are burning books and suppressing those knowledge because they considered it as evil While europe forbade the study of scientific knoweldge, yet Islam strongly encouraged its improvement and development.....It is not being realized by europe through the people considered by the church as heretics, such as the Knight Templars and merchants, that science is important not untill the end of the 10th centuries!

That time the europeans had started to study the works of Muslim scholars and started translating the Arabic/greek texts that brought europe from the dark ages into the so called rennaissance! Simply, when Muslims started to quarrel politically among themselves at the start of the 11th century onward, thus became weak and and easy prey of european conquest and colonialization the focus of studying sciences was being transferred from Muslims to the west! In short, the western scholars are just a beneficiary of the Muslim achievements in terms of knowledge and what we call advanced civilization!!!

Be awakened in your hypocrisy, or else you are not fair in your assement about Islam and its contribution in the advancement of civilization!
