Anyone who is really interested in reading about the path that the Greek learning was transmitted to us you can check Loeb Classical Library (if you live in the US you will find it at B&N and Borders") .

I suggest that you check "Ptolemy Tetrabiblos" and on page xiv, you will find how the text was transmitted and it comes from a translation to Arabic by Hunein who was a Nestorian circa 9th century, and then a copy by Plato Tiburtinus, which does not sound like an Arabic name to me. and then we have the Latin copy by Aegiduis de Thebaldis circa 13th century which does not sound like an Arabic name to me either. This is how Ptolemy's work was transmitted. I do not see an Arab in sight.

So where were the arabs here? I suspect looting as usual.
