Too sugar coated and flowery for me.

Reader comment on item: PBS, Recruiting for Islam

Submitted by Ghan shyam (United States), Dec 19, 2002 at 06:44

As much as I admire PBS for its frontline and Nova series and others, it is sad to see eulogies (rather than documentaries) being shown on PBS. Has anyone here ever tried to eat sugar cubes? You feel like puking after that, right? The same was the effect of this eulogy - too sugar coated for me with no objectivity at all.

I would rather see some one like O'Reilly make a documentary on Prophet Mohammed. I am not saying Mohammed may not have been a great man. Perhaps he was (in comparison to his fellow mates at the time) and perhaps he wasn't. However, during these times, what would really be of interest to the viewers of PBS is an understanding of how the majority muslims interpret the islamic preachings (some do it in a peaceful way and apparently a significant number of them do not).

PBS has lost some respect from me because of this non-objectivity.
