Reader comment on item: PBS, Recruiting for Islam

It was an interesting article but some points i had to mention;

Marriage of the Holy Prophet to Khadija was after a proposal from Khadija. It was not that the Holy Prophet sought marriage of Hazrat Khadija but was approached by an middle person on Hazrat Khadija behalf.

Even later in authentic hadith the Holy Prophet would become emotional just to hear the voice of the sister of Khadija who had passed away because it reminded him of his late wife. This clearly shows his love for Hazrat Khadija. One could say that the marriages were certainly not acts of lust because most of them were older than him and were already widowed.

As for your comments pertaining to the rights given to women. You feel that these rigths given to women in the seventh century were not at all significant. These can all be considered quite amazing if compared to certain teachings from other scriptures relating to women, please read them; (Timothy 2:11-14, Ecclesiasticus 22:3 etc)
Today one may see injustices across the world but they are no where to be found in the teachings of that belief/faith, so how can we blame the faith. For example if we look at Northen Ireland we see many problems but it would be incorrect for us to attribute these issues to Christianity.
