Quran mentions this incident (Q33.26,27). Sahih hadeeses and the first muslim historian Ibn Ishaq give all the details of it (for references see "faithfreedom.org") All muslim authorities accept the fact. Yes muslims are embarassed every time it is mentioned and give silly excuses like they had commited treason, and that they were judged by the jewish law for treason. If treason was the charge then why did not the good and kind prophet punish the leaders only? Was it necessary to behead all the adult males? Was it necessary to enslave all the women and children to be sold in slavery to buy arms? Was it necessary for the prophet to personally rape beautiful 17 year old Rehana? Perhaps the apologists are using the concept of "taqiuya" in islam in which you are allowed to lie for the good of islam and deny that the massacre ever happenened.
