Reader comment on item: PBS, Recruiting for Islam

Submitted by Elie Khawand (United States), Dec 18, 2002 at 13:00

I do support your comments about PBS misuse of public funds to promote divisiveness in the name of religious tolerance. This apologetic mentality never ceases to amaze those of us who have a grain of common sense.

Islam's ideology provided the fueling thoughts for barbaric acts such as the 9/11 atrocities. Osama Bin Laden and his likes do not shy from quoting verses from the Koran to support their hideous actions. Mosques all over the world resound with rallying cries for killing the "unbelievers". Still, some feel that they should volunteer their intellect to put a good face on Islam. Their actions would help only to embolden the radicals and to enforce their support amongst the silent Muslims.

Islam is rightfully accused and only the Muslims carry the burden of proving to the rest of us why we should trust them and their religion. Some Muslims have already tried, at the risk of their well being, to refute some fundamental Islamic beliefs. These are the ones whom PBS should promote and support.

Daniel, it is the vigilance and the tedious efforts of people like you which is keeping us from loosing our sanity. Keep up the good work and God bless you.

Elie
