Jihad Is A Tony Robbins Seminar

Reader comment on item: PBS, Recruiting for Islam

Submitted by Steve Early (United States), Dec 19, 2002 at 17:49

I was only able to catch a portion of the PBS documentary. It perpetuated the urban legend that "jihad" is an "internal struggle" to improve oneself and it stressed that the word "jihad" means "to strive". If that is true, why do Bin Laden, Muslim clerics, and other radical Muslims direct jihads at infidels? Do they want us to start lifting weights and reading great works of literature? Why is that radical Muslims proclaim Jihad before, during, and after attacking infidels? The 9-11 hijackers were jihadists by their own admissions and they were undoubtedly striving. They were striving to kill infidels as directed by the Koran. We should all work to disabuse the notion that jihad is the equivalent of a Tony Robbins program.
