former convert tells the truthReader comment on item: PBS, Recruiting for Islam Submitted by faruq (United States), Jan 31, 2004 at 15:26 The sad thing is that everything Daniel Pipes said is true. Muslims have this ridiculously romanticized ideal that their form of fascism, superstition and mumbo jumbo will somehow save the world. Now religious adherents are free to do as they will with their religions, and many jews and christians are just as extreme, goofy, and harmful to the world. But people who willingly submerge themselves in cult-like surroundings, shut out the world and differing opinions. Well frankly these people have not fullfilled the contract of what it is to live in the West, and I would argue that many American converts help to push the extremism and irrelevance further. Muslims should not be attacked or hurt, they should be treated with care, as the confused children that they are. We decry the loss of civil liberties in this country. And meanwhile the bathroom is breeding bolsheviks. Americans need to stop isolating themselves within the country and within the world and I believe we won't continue to be taken by such stupid surprise as we were on 9-11. Islam is a reactionary belief system with a rigid spiritual program. Islam has something to offer in the field of spiritual understanding, but as far as the politics and leadership the world is a better place without it.
