Give Hamas a chance

Reader comment on item: [The Hamas Electoral Victory:] Democracy's Bitter Fruit

Submitted by Galal Mohammedi (United States), Feb 1, 2006 at 13:53

The West have accused Arabs and Muslims of being undemocratic people. Furthermore Bush said that the war on Iraq was on the name of" democracy". But when Hamas won the election in Palestine all what so called democrats hesitated to confess that bitter truth. Since we all agreed that democracy is the best solution for all communities why then we talk badly and threaten Hamas when it followed a democratic way to get to power.

I believe if the west have any kind of credibilty , the west respect the Palestinians choice and deal with the real. No matter who won the election, and wait and see how Hamas behave. But while Hamas won the election which means it is the choice of the majority of Palestinians is still in terrorism list. I believe that Hamas is not a terrorist group. Why don't you say that the west will guarantee the Israeli Withdrawal from the occupied land in 1967 and than ask Hamas to confess by Israel. No body dare to tell Israel to apply all UN resolutions regarding the occupied lands and the refiguees , meanwhile all western countries threaten Hamas and Palestinians everyday. I think threat is not way, you to deal with us as human being as you. Then we may live in peace , but if you still believe that you are superior creatures , earth will find peace at all.
