Reader comment on item: [The Hamas Electoral Victory:] Democracy's Bitter Fruit

Submitted by Hisham (United Arab Emirates), Jan 28, 2006 at 00:15

Before every thing else. Ask your selves: why did the palestinians elected Hamas?
I can give you starting points

1. The old palestinian authority that was supported by the west, was the most corrupted political structure that existed on the face of earth. (bribe, rape, kidnapping and jailing people just by the ID).

2. Fatah people were in control of everything. You can not work if you do not belong to Fatah.

3. For the normal palestinains living in Gazza and the west bank. They used to see their homes bombed and their parents killed with no reason (not all of them were fighting Israel), and while Fatah did nothing Hamas was taking "their revenge" from the israeels

Now while I reject the idea of killing civilians, but for the normal palestinians, Hamas was the only one to be there for them when everyone else starting with Fatah and the west supported palestinain government let go of them

By supporting a corrupted and filthy palestinians authority, USA and the west planted the first seeds of Hamas victory,

This is what you have planted and this is what you are getting. (same goes for Iraq and afaghansetan and may be also Egypt and other countries).
Enjoy the fruit of your work
