Reader comment on item: [The Hamas electoral victory:] Democracy's bitter fruit

Submitted by Peter G Jones (United States), Jan 27, 2006 at 19:46

Mr Pipes:
...The election to which you refer merely peels off a layer of obfuscation or ambiguity--whichever you prefer. Arafat had most of the world playing along with his fiction about Fatah as a political party. When Jews were shot and or blown up Good Old Yasser could simply say "Hey, I try but I can't control them." Right. He was too busy burying the money that the world kept giving to the PLO at various places all over the world.

Now --instead of a terrorist organization operating from within a pseudo-state, we will see the spectacle of an overtly terrorist "State" conducting terrorism. What could be more instructive? And when Israel responds with crushing power to such antics the entire drama will be that of inter-State belligerence, which, what the Hell--we are pretty well accustomed to that after these 1400 years of rabid Islamist blood-letting.

Let us be very honest and clear about this: There never was a Peace Process. Unless Islam reforms and denounces the myriad commandments of the Koran to kill Infidels--there never will be. Islam recognizes only Truces-- temporary lulls in the action which provide a quiet time for Islam to gear up for the next Holy War when the oppostion is weaker or off guard.

Some Greek observed that the only constant is change. In 1400 years Islam has not changed from the original belligerent, xenophobic, perverse paranoia that radiates from virtually every page of the Koran.

Just a thought, Peter G Jones
