Faulty Assumptions Paralyze Israel and the West

Reader comment on item: [The Hamas Electoral Victory:] Democracy's Bitter Fruit

Submitted by Joel Hammer (United States), Jan 28, 2006 at 17:34

The issue of Hamas winning the election among the angry, frustrated, and Jew-hating arabs in Gaza is a nonissue.

The idiocy of the West's bending over backwards, forwards....etc enabling first Arafat and his equally pernicious successor Abbas to weaken Israel makes me want to scream. A viable solution to the conflict between Israel and those who seek its demise could have been initiated if, after Israel' 1967 victory of its enemies, the US and Western Europe allowed Israel to impose the terms of peace, not Egypt and the other aggressors.

The arab refugees living in perpetual squalor should have been relocated to Jordan, as should have most of the arabs living in Israel. Most hate Jews and would have more than enough land in Jordan. The relocation process could have been financed by Saudi Arabia. Sinai would have remained part of Israel and the Golan annnexed.

Unfortunately, as you know, the West's Middle Eastern policy is Saudi driven. Until the pathological relationship between the powers that be who have been bought by the Saudi gangsters and our fear of another OPEC crisis is publicized over and over again, Israel will continue to be further weakened and the risks of a major war -perhaps nuclear if Israel feels without recourse- increases. As usual, antisemitism, continued enabling by the West of terrorists, and Israeli refusal to face reality will lead to no good for anyone except the sociopaths whose reputations ride on their insane policies.
