Reader comment on item: [The Hamas Electoral Victory:] Democracy's Bitter Fruit

Submitted by Dan (United States), Jan 27, 2006 at 12:53

While I would never try to match wits with Dr. Pipes regarding his knowledge of the middle east and islam, from my brief exposure(4+years) to this poisonous ideology, I would have to conclude that this election represents a yearning of the electorate for islamic rule, even if it is at the same time a rejection of fatah, as well as for the martial and violent spirit embodied by hamas.

It is difficult for me to believe that these people, brainwashed from day 1 to hate "others" and to define themselves based on their victomhood, would desire any other leadership when given a real choice(even if it was not unanimous). I realize others may disagree w this analysis but I do not look upon this election as an isolated yet important event but rather a small step in the continuum of islamic thinking and actions over the years on a long journey to world domination facilitated by the wests "insistence" on it being achieved democratically.

While we may not be happy w the results, at least we console ourselves w the thought that it was obtained by the right rules. While others have suggested otherwise, this is simply muslim democracy; one man, one vote, one time.
