JIhad and Islam

Reader comment on item: [The Hamas electoral victory:] Democracy's bitter fruit
in response to reader comment: Can Democracy Save the Middle East?

FRank Vosler is right when he says "But the jihad spirit has its roots in the Quran and the Hadith (life and sayings of Muhammad) which teach hatred for Jews and Christians and the goal of conquering and ruling the world."

If Islam wins in dominating the world, the credit for it will not belong to the Muslims -- but only to the infidels of the world. Why?

1. The infdiels of the world are divided -- the infidels of the world can only see themsleves as Christains or Jews or Hindus etc. When USSR invades Afghanistan the US goes around the world exhorting the Muslims to fight the infidel Russkies. When Osma attacks WTC, the US calls Islam a religion of peace that has been highjacked by a few radicals. When Muslim terrorists kill innocents in Indian part of Kashmir, it is labeled freedom struggle. When Russia faces Islamic terrorism in Chechnya, they are told to talk with the terrorists. When car burning orgy takes hold in France, it is France that is blamed for failing to have "integrated the Muslim population" as if Muslims have ever integrated anywhere in the world.

2. Islam is claimed to be a religion of peace and tolerance but those who are fundamentlaists and follow the fundamentals of the religion of peace and tolerance are portrayed as evil. How can the followers of the fundamentals of relgion of peace and tolerance be bad?

3. Islam is good but Islamism is portrayed to be bad -- where is the logic?

4. We believe in freedom of religion and thought but conutries that prohibit both are our best friends e.g. Sauid Arabia and Pakistan -- just two examples. Pakistan, let us not forget, is the country that was created on the basis of relgin and killed, converted or expelled almost all of its non-Muslim population. Do we in the West have any ideology that we believe in?

5. With enemies like the liberal West, or even conservative, Islam does not really need any friends.
