Dear Sidda,
Thanks a lot for your comment.

> Ianus, your point is well taken. This is how I understand this issue, though. Hamas wants to exterminate Israel because it has the audacity to insist on existing AS A JEWISH STATE in the middle of Dar al Islam.

Yes, you're right. In a Muslim mind no un-Islamic state or political entity can exist legally in Dar al-Islam. All Muslims are obliged to work for its destruction.

> If the Israelis would consent to give up their rule of the Jewish state, they would be allowed to exist as dhimmis UNDER Islamic law with Hamas running the show.

Still, I think that you're a little overoptimistic. By the fact of existing as a Jewish state and opposing Islam in Dar al-Islam Israel has lost any right to aspire to and enjoy the status of dhimmitude. The precedent of the Medina Banu Quraisa is well defined and decisive. All Jews will be killed, women and children enslaved. Giving up will not help Israel as it did not help Banu Quraisa.

That's why I wrote that only the Christians have the choice between death, conversion or dhimmitude. For the rest of the world - and Jews in particular - it's only death or conversion.
