Well if all the Muslim countries with oil and gas were to stop suppyling oil to the west what would happen to the west it would this fall apart the economy would stop growing for western countries because of no oil. There would be no electricity meaning no light. No gas meaning no heat.

If the western governments had a brain they would stop getting oil from oil rich countries and would need to plant 500 miles of solar panels in the Sahara Desert where the sun is shining during the whole day to meet the energy need of the whole world. Global Warming won't be a big of a problem if the world does that. There be no more wars over oil or gas. We won't be damaging the environment then. The Sahara Desert would be good use to us. But this won't happen because the western world is this too busy killing terrorist and dealing with the Islamic world.

Sohail you are right that the western governments do not take seriously the bigger problems other than Islam like Global Warming, poverty in around the world, Aids/Hiv and all the others which claim million of lifes a year.

Nawab"

Total rubbish fellas.

Sohail, I agree. We should stop buying oil from the Middle East. the only problem is, it is pretty much the only income keeping the rich Arab states. Shoot themselves in the foot? I don't think they'd be up for that somehow. They need us as much as we apparently need them.

However, I say hang them out to dry and when we no longer depend on you sole export it will mean economic ruin for your muslim countries with oil and gas reserves. then where will you be. The oil rich Arab Sheiks will not prop up the economy of such countries. You will then have limited economic development in the middle east. They will be off with their booty, leaving the rest in poverty.

Nawab,Developed countries from the West and Oceania contribute billions of dollars to world aid programs (including AIDS). Over the last 20 years, annual Official Development Assistance (ODA) has been between $50bn and $60bn but has reached over $100bn in 2005. That's annually. The United States is the world's largest contributor of ODA in absolute terms ($15.7 billion, 2003). However, private contributions also make a significant, albeit harder to track, contribution to development aid. Private donations in the United States, for example, are estimated to be at least $34 billion dollars a year.

Should we stop giving aid as well??? Watch the third world flounder in its misery?

Give thanks that there are people out here that care about third world and developing nations.
