Nawab -

The problem for Islam is that the west have TOO MUCH knowlege of Islam. If anything the media is very tempered in handling the true nature of Islam so as to not offend. Blogs like this offer at least some reality.

Why dont you go and read some of the articles listed on this site - there are hundreds of them. They are simply reporting FACTS. Every time I see a Muslim scholar in the media (and it happens a lot these days) - that person does nothing to reduce my discomfort with Islam. In fact it only further frustrates me because they keep wheeling out lies and excuses (its all America's & Israel's fault that we are backward & violent nations). Anything to deflect and avoid true introspection and anayisis of Islam and the havoc it has caused in their nations (& now the west). Sunnis & Shiites slaughter each other. They are all Muslims arent they..?

People in the west have every right to question whether millions of immigrants to their homes are in fact hostile to their way of life. Islam has a HUGE image problem - but it is not some beat up by the media...its based in facts. The idea that Islam is a totally misunderstood and maligned religion is a joke. No one cares who your God is. Maybe thats the problem... People who think all Muslims are terrorists are stupid... but no less stupid than the MILLIONS of Muslems who cant even accept the fact of 9/11...The west welcomes the chance to have honest and open debate with Muslim scholars on Islam.... but the results always embarrass Muslems. Bad press effects all groups and religions..... Muslems arent excluded. We live in FREE societies and are allowed to think & reason. If that offends - try Saudi Arabia. If you think Muslems get more than their fair share - maybe investigate why... Or is the mean west just picking on you again..???
