Reader comment on item: [Pew Poll on] How Muslims Think
in response to reader comment: Christians and the media are the problem

Submitted by Siddhartha Vicious (United States), Jun 27, 2006 at 21:25

The believers in every religion, most especially Islam, feel that they are the elect of God.

Christians, in all their sects, are insulted and attacked every day in the media, as well as from the pulpits of mosques, throughout the world, yet when was the last time you heard of hordes of enraged Christians storming through the streets, burning buildings and murdering people of other religions? When Christianity is attacked, the ministers and priests are in their pulpits and among their flocks urging calm and non-violence. Calling for peace.

Jews are attacked and insulted even more often that Christians, and I ask the same question. When was the last time you heard about a rampaging mob of Jews, destroying everything in their paths? When the Jews are insulted, and ever more frequently attacked and murdered, Rabbis are in their synagogues, and in public, calling for peace.

Of the major religions, only Islam responds to any perceived insult with violence. When Islam is insulted, Imams, Mullahs and prayer leaders are in their mosques, exhorting their people to violence and murder.

No, Islam is the problem. Any religion that will not allow reasoned discourse, or even questioning of it's beliefs, is simply not worth believing.
