PEW Muslim Poll Results

Reader comment on item: [Pew Poll on] How Muslims Think

Submitted by John R. Peacher (United States), Jun 27, 2006 at 20:11

The results of the poll raise questions regarding U. S. government policy that democratic governments are the answer to all ills in Islamic nations. A perfect example is the constant push for a Palestinian State, its justification being that it was democratically elected. The fact that a major terrorist organization wins is of little consequence, it seems.

Over 80 percent of Palestinians have said the destruction of Israel is a worthy goal. A majority also feel that the United States has invaded and now occupies Iraq. Until the leaders of Western nations start telling the truth about Islamist goals and prepare their populations for a major struggle to overcome the hatred and violence of radical Islam, we are losing this contest of belief systems.

It is a war of beliefs, a war of religions, a war of those who strive for peace, prosperity and the pursuit of happiness against a culture that worships death, destruction, and desolation. Policy makers have to find a solution and telling the truth is usually a good start. Our addiction to oil, our national debt which is financed by oil producing countries, and the power of the oil companies must be removed from the equasion before we are successful. It does not look favorable for the near future. I hope another major attack is not the trigger that forces Americans and Europeans into action to stop importing oil which subsequently supports terror every time we fill up our vehicles. Our addiction to MIdeast oil may very well be the death of our societies. Tens of billions of dollars flow to oil producing nations and the major oil companies whose only desire is for more profits. They are not our friends in this war of civilizations.
