Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?
in response to reader comment: Muslims and racism

Submitted by Octavio Johanson (Italy), May 28, 2006 at 07:39

What if I don't want to become a Muslim? Europe is welcoming millions of Muslims, in the name of anti-racism. But what if I don't want to grow a beard and pray five times a day? My faith is, and will always be, Christian. I believe in the Christian God and his Son. This idea of anti-Muslim racism implies that we should be open-minded, build more Muslim places of worship, encourage Muslims to come here. Not just here, but also in the rest of the West. The problem is that I don't want to become a Muslim and grow a beard. This is the real issue with multi-culturalism. What if North Americans don't want to learn Spanish? What if Europeans don't want to build mosques?
