The "war on racism" is a source of violence

Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Submitted by Robert Solot (Mexico), Nov 23, 2005 at 08:23

"The lofty idea of `the war on racism' is gradually turning into a hideously false ideology. And this anti-racism will be for the 21st century what communism was for the 20th century. A source of violence. Today, Jews are attacked in the name of anti-racist discourse: the separation fence, `Zionism is racism." -- Alain Finkielraut

Finkielraut makes the same point as Pipes: "anti racism" is equivalent to appeasement in the case of the riots in French cities.

On the other hand, Europeans have a black history, of course, and their attitude of "no more Auschwitz" is utterly legitimate: the Nazi regime was the first to "un-moor" the concept of race from biology. After their failure to discover a "racial" basis of Judaism (i.e. a biological marker), then focused on "cultural" markers, as a way of effectively branding Jews.
