Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Submitted by John Giannasca (Australia), Nov 22, 2005 at 17:15

The mere suggestion that we have to defend our language at a time when people are starting to verbalise their feelings on the subject of Islamists and Islamic radicals, and to speak up in the knowledge that they are not alone is absurd. I dont condone personal abuse, no right minded person does. However to categorise the critisism if Islam as racism when the aim is to show how it tolerates and provides both covert and overt support of much of the evil that is happening by muslims, is playing into their hands.

Lets not let the debate go on and on, because we will lose. If we lose we will cease to have the ability to inform and share opinions as this site does. Why will we lose, because they are better organised than we are and they can be driven from the mosques to protest against us in a way we could never.

However, their main weapon against us is those of us who would support then blindly following some notion that the world is like it used to be. It aint Kansas Toto. The world has changed and we cant turn back the clock. We cant blindly adhere to the principles of the past. We can only follow the ways of the past if we expect the future to look like the past, well it doesnt. We need to change our whole approach to combat this situation.
