in response to reader comment: Is Australia a racist country?

i cant speak about lebanese racism, because i am not lebanese, and I believe racism to be normally an individual experience even difficult to explain to others. I have lived in australia for more than 4 years, i have travelled around the US, and yes, I think there is racism in australia. If not, why so manny street bashing to people with immigrant look like faces?, why the condition of the black men in this country?, why so many people from other countries never achieve the higher ranks of companies and politics?.

On the other hand, I have experience racism myself. In one occasion working in a 5 star hotel I was told directly by the F&B manager to avoid or stop giving staff of asian origin the opportunity to run and operate the bar because they were asian. I am latin, and that was enough to me for leave that place.

in a second ocassion, i was walking in sydney with my wife and a group of thugs got near to us, and one of them touched me on the face disrespecfully, trying to pick a fight with me, i could have sleep in jail that night, or even been killed if my wife did not start crying and asking me to let it go.

and all this in sydney, i cant imagine what happens in other smaller towns, or cities....
