Hatred of Muslims

Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Submitted by Richard (United Kingdom), Nov 22, 2005 at 20:02

The so called racism that's directed at Muslims, it's a hatred - name it what you will, comes about because of the way they behave. Their beliefs are so extreme that they are prepared to commit acts of violence western cultures simply would never undertake - example Suicide Bombing.

There's no tolerance in the religion, if you're a Christian and you want to marry a Muslim, then the Muslims expect, no, more than that, they demand that you as a Christian give up your Christian beliefs and convert to Islam. It's never the other way around. ( A friend of mine was forced to convert otherwise he would not be permitted to marry his girlfriend)

Their religion totally consumes them, these people define themselves by their religion. If you hurt one Muslim in another part of the world, the muslims in another country kick up a fuss and claim that you are attacking the religion and that they in another country must defend it. Hurt someone that happens to be a muslim and all muslims interpret it as an attack on their religion, when clearly it never was. They use it as a justification to take up arms and get involved in causes which were never anything to do with them.

I'm sorry, but I can't help but think the hatred is justified.
