REdefinitions of words inhibits free speech

Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Daniel:

You have made an excellent point about racism. It has erroneously become a generic word to depict as "abhorrent (racism)" objections to anything, a group of people to the extreme of a single individual, espouses.

It stifles communication to the point of trumping ( a playing card terminology) free speech because now they say you cannot say anything against my ideas for if you do it is racist.

The liberal press are doing the very same thing to the misuse of the word "pedophile" by redefining it to mean the sexual abuse of both pre and post pubescent children/young adults.

The dictionary definition of Pedophile is the sexual abuse of a pre-pubescent child and commonly accepted by society as such.

Homosexual acts are generally accepted by society of post pubescent people.

This convolution has resulted in all Priest abuse being portrayed as only of small children when in fact 85% of the sexual abuse cases were of a homosexual nature and affected POST -PUBESCENT young adults.

Free speech and resulting analysis is again being thwarted, that by identifying priestly sexual abuse as homosexual acts is now deemed racist in nature.

Freedom of speech is now Trumped by the word "racist".

These examples are far more than subtle attacks on our First Amendment.
