One-way "racism"

Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Submitted by Olivia M. (Australia), Nov 22, 2005 at 21:57

Regardless of how one defines "racist", the term will never be used against Muslims for the way they treat other religious groups around the world. We won't hear the Indonesian men who beheaded the three Christian schoolgirls condemned as "racists". Nor the Muslims beheading Thai Buddhists, or white hostages in Iraq. Not even the Muslims in Darfur will be condemned as racists, for killing other Muslims who are black. If a Muslim was beheaded, it would be condemned as a "racist" attack. Just giving a Muslim a funny look is "racist" these days.

It's like the term "multiculturalism". It's all one-way - against white European cultures. Same with the trendy definition of "racist". It will never be used against Muslims, not even when they're so obvious with their racism and intolerance.

The Australian definition is very interesting. It describes Islam to a tee. Islam is definitely "too different", and it definitely threatens "community values" and "social cohesion" wherever it goes, for the past 1400 years. We see that in action today, in our own countries. But, of course, I'm being "racist" pointing that out.

By redefining the term "race", they can use a very powerful tool against you - call you a "racist". It effectively shuts people up, and makes others wary of going near you, so as not to be seen as one themselves.
