Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?

Submitted by Dan (United States), Nov 22, 2005 at 14:13

First and foremost, muslims, as a "species" are more racist than any other group on the planet. There are muslim countries that exclude "others" from their country except under certain circumstances. Ethnic cleansing of various middle east states of objectional inhabitants based on religion is well known, so however one uses the word racist, the muslim should be depicted next to the definition of racism in any dictionary, irrespective of its objective definition.

Another word that should depict the muslim as the prototype is intolerant. So what of others' racism? Perhaps its time to defang the word and understand it for what it is; in the case of its application muslims by nonmuslims , especially in western countries, it is not an arbitrary attitude based on caprice but rather a rational response to a "species" of humans on this planet that represent a mortal threat to all others not of the same ilk. This is called selfpreservation, not racism. This is an attempt to denigrate those who would protect themselves from a very real threat by using a pejorative that begs to be denies by those so accused. If being racist is a rational response to a group of human beings who ascribe to an ideology that purports to destroy all those who believe otherwise, then so be it.
