Reader comment on item: Islamophobia?

Thank you for your compliments. I'm sure you meant well.

I have also been following your articles. You write well. Good research.

When I state that people have died from religious wars and persecutions, I meant on both sides - as killers as well as victims.. Many early Christians died being persecuted by the Romans for standing by their faith. Many Christians kill in their God's name. Hindus and Buddhists have suffered significantly during the slaughter by Islamic invaders into Persia and India.

There are many occasions these victims could escape death by either renouncing their faith or embrace the invaders', but no. They too have died by the Names of their God.

I must admit that my research on the history of India or Hinduism is not elaborate. I could say that I have better encounter with Buddhisms. One of Buddha's teachings that "Desires of men cause sufferrings" speak volumes on humanity. To seek Enlightenment, one would have to restrain from carnal desires.

Before Sept 11, my knowledge on Islam was limited. I met muslims and found their morality admirable. To me, modesty is a rare virtue in today's secular world which seeks instant gratification. Their prophet being a model for mankind sounds good. The tenacy to defend their religion was admirable. Somewhat, I can't put a finger on their twisted morality. I mean, they can be so uptight about their women not being fully covered but feel not pain upon learning the deaths or sufferrings of humans - especially non-muslims.

Then came Sept 11. Thus the war against terror begins. It's war. The muslims asked us to read the Quran and the Hadiths. They told me that Islam means peace.

So? I listened to them. I read their Quran. I read their Hadiths. From their websites. There are many questions in my head but the advertisement jingles were convincing. The shy and demure women of Islam are modest in their appearances and conduct.

I was shocked to find out what I read!!! Such brutality. Such evil.

Don't get me wrong. I've read the Old Testament and some history. Medieval treatments for petty crimes are well documented everywhere.

The Hadiths points out to me, a mad man. An abused orphan during childhood - thus the hatred for women. Married into money, thus stayed monogamous. Married two wives, one a 6-year old girl, before the first anniversary of her wife's death.

Taunted the Meccans, without any harm on him, for ten years and managed to garner only a handful of followers. Spewed out Satanic Verses - thus has to run to Medina and started a career as a caravan raider or bandit. Made war booty legal for himself. Gave out chunks of money to attract more bandits. Promised the eternal carnal pleasures of sex, wine, food and large palaces if they die fighting for him. Married, more like raped, teenage war captives. Caused several sex scandals and had to neutralise the situations with divine revelations.

I mean - Oh My God!!! I can't believe I'm reading this !!! How can a rational person BUY INTO THIS???

Later, I begin to discover that there are many muslims that have left their religion. Thank God. I thought that only a few would. Nonetheless, muslims kill apostates. Hence, I believe that millions more would have left this religion "in the hearts". All it takes is to read the Quran and the Hadiths. Not just books written by mullahs and imans talking about it. Go for the original source.

With the internet, I concur with Dr Ali Sina's prediction, found in www.faithfreedom.org, Islam will colapse. By itself.

Nonetheless, we will be doing the victims a favor by showing the truth. How can we do that? Read the Quran and the Hadiths to them.
