Reader comment on item: Islamophobia?

In Hindu scriptures, the description of a good wife is as follows: "a woman whose mind, speech and body are kept in subjection, acquires high renown in this world, and, in the next, the same abode with her husband."

Dear scholar, the above was what you gave as evidence that women in hindu society were treated badly.I dont see any injustice in that scripture.I am not a hindu or a budhist but i believe that those religions have more new things to teach us than the Quran so please leave them out of this and concentrate on christianity.

With regard to western or christian societies, yes it is true that there are recorded cases of rape and abuse of women,but you should know that in those societies they have a strict definition of what constitutes abuse against women hence anything, as long as the women does not like it, might be termed an abuse against a woman.In Islamic societies these abuses are given legitimacy with some verses in the Quran.

I also cant see why arguing with some should mean you and that person are equal.
