you're right, in fact since the 80's, americans themselves have been discussing the problem of how we are coming to define multiculturalism and that it does not truly depict what exists in usa. what exists is sections of town where people who share characteristics (physical, ethnic, cultural, religious) often choose to live in shared areas along side of people like them. There is some interaction with other groups of course, but it will take the coming generations to gradually blend if that eventuality ever does occur.
