On Again, Off Again; Maybe Yes, Maybe No.Reader comment on item: Europe vs. America Submitted by Joe Wood ("Havoc") (United States), Jan 14, 2003 at 12:57 I believe that, rather than a "great leader", George W. Bush is an unusually indecisive, feckless leader. Eighteen months into WWII, we were well on our way to the destruction of both Japan and Nazi Germany. We were under full mobilization. We were heavily engaged in both the Pacific and North African Theatres. It was apparent that the Allies and Axis were locked in a death struggle. In contrast, in the "war" on terror: We have not mobilized. We have not deployed a formidable host. We have not aggressively engaged the enemy - anywhere. We have not even named the enemy. But, we have deployed an information agency (CIA) and an arm of the Treasury Department (FBI) in our defense. It's not a wonder that our allies are wavering. Rather, it is a wonder that we have any allies at all.
