Did the US really deserve what it got?

I dont mean to be offensive, but by god we should be on our knees thanking al quaeda for only attacking us with planes. I mean consider this, the Pentagon as well as many independent sources ahve confirmed that al quaeda has ditry bombs and a few suitcase nukes to wipe out Chicago, Los Angeles, and Manhattan. Everyday I thank god that there isn't a mushroom cloud over the skyline, it so sad the 2900+ that died that day, but it is unfortunatley better than 30,000,000 right? Lets hope that Osoma doesn't realize the potential to mess us up, or the United States will be in the history books (assuming they're not ashes).
