Reader comment on item: How Israel Can Win
in response to reader comment: Iran is Aryan

Submitted by Stece (United States), Nov 26, 2006 at 04:44

A lot can be laid at modern Iran's door but not the name Aryan; it was used thousands of years before Hitler - when his people were running around in animal skins. The word Persian is of Greek origin. The people have always referred to themselves as Aryan or "ar ee ah ee". It was the Germans who copied them, not the other way around.

The renaming of Iran was similar to what happened in a lot of countries after WW2. They wanted to go back to there old name for themselves. So 'Persia' (of Greek origins) was changed to Iran, which is close to there old name (not sure off the spelling on this) Iranishtar or land of the Aryans - nothing to do with the master race Aryans in Hitters delusions.

But that does not mean they do not have an anti-Semitism of there own.
