Another consideration

While history is a great teacher that we should never ignore, planning should always look forward else we would prepare to fight the previous instead of the next war.

One strategy that can be, and is being pursued simultaneously, is to isolate Palestenians from meaningful Arab support. Treaties with Egypt and Jordan, the weakening of Syria and its retreat from Lebanon, and the overthrow of Saddam Houssein, all serve to deprive the new Hammas government of financial and political support.

This circumstance facilitates the action of former contributors to the PA, such as Canada and the EU, to pressure the new Palestenian government directly, and the eminent financial collapse of that government could be as useful as a battlefield victory.
