Reader comment on item: How Israel Can Win
in response to reader comment: Iran is Aryan

Submitted by babak (United States), Nov 12, 2007 at 01:37

Regarding the comment on top of this page, there is a wide spread belief that the iranians renamed themselves to sound like aryans in 1920's and that they were previously called persians. They did so, as the argument on top of this page continues, because of antisimitism.

For all those... PERSIA is the latin / greek / European name for Iran. There are historical writings(in cuniform) and poetry (ShahNameh is one of the many examples) that clearly name the land as Iran: Meaning the land of Aryans( But Wait). Was it not the King of Aryans (Cyrus) who abolished Slavery and granted the Jews the right to return to Israel. And Was it not in the 1920's that Jews (amongst others) secured representation in the political arena of iran. Please Study history before calling someone a NAZI. Maybe I am an Iranian Jew.

Europeans, and not only the germans, misused the name to kill millions of people, to secure their own power and amongst others to march into central asia. In particular Hitler called himself a humanist, Why don't you go after every humanist!!!!!

Please I beg you, Iranians did not change the name of their nation, they just insisted on being called by their proper name!
