Reader comment on item: How Israel Can Win

Submitted by anonymizer (United States), Apr 5, 2006 at 21:38

I am not sure why a pretty simple issue understood thousands of years ago, and resolved routinely so many times until very recently, causes any kind of discussion now. History books tell us what to do. The isue has been already discussed and analyzed centuries ago. Machiavelli understood it. Chengiz practice it well. They are still frightened of him. If they have great assets as oil and property, it's better for us - its something to pay for the war campaign with. Why should we care what Europeans think: they dream of survival using questionable methods. Yes Italy survived medieval ottoman invasion, Swiss and Sweden avoided being conquered by nazis. However that has been a sheer luck, not something provable to work consistenly as many more countries who tried appeasement eventually failed. The only way to survival is to rough them up in a big way pretty soon.
