Daniel

I read your columns often and find myself in your "Amen" corner. In this column you have captured how I feel regarding the complacency of many in the USA and Western Europe so well. It seems that we deal with a complacent population that worries more about the latest celebrity divorce or romance or who will win the National College Football BCS Title more than they do the matters of the life and death of a nation or culture.

I've served in the military 24 years and remember what it was like to be called a Nazi for wearing my Army ROTC uniform on a college campus at the time of the Iranian hostage crisis. I still serve but at times feel like the efforts of those who fight the war against Radical Islamic Terrorists are not appreciated by the apethetic masses and are in many cases are actively opposed by the left wing of the political spectrum who we also defend.

When I see the media fighting at every turn to criminalize our prosecution of the war and ignore the crimes of the enemy I am filled with gloom. It's like we can win every battle and still these people will say that our victories are defeats and our enemies innocent victims of our oppression. I fear the day that the next big attack comes. At that thime those who support our enemies by attacking us will blame us for not doing enough while they (and I hate to use the term because it has negative historical connotations) "stabbed us in the back" at every opportunity.

Keep fighting the good fight my friend. Maybe someday the USA and the West will wake up.

Very Respectfully,

Steve
