Outstanding, Shocking, Definitive – And Terribly Inadequate

Reader comment on item: My Gloom: Back to September 10

Submitted by Jack Heismann (United States), Dec 21, 2005 at 01:10

If we're to believe that what was written six months ago is "old news" then My Gloom has to be the definitive article on Islamic Jihad from the American perspective. It's pointed, poignant, clear and concise. It's right. Terribly, terribly right.

Yet, despite it's tremendous virtues, it remains a poor-man's Cliff's Notes on the subject.

If we're to shed our complacency, and coalesce as a nation against a global revolutionary force that is determined to eradicate the United States as we know it – succumb to a revolutionary force driven to replace our nation with an Islamic centric state – we must discuss the threat and the reality in far more depth and detail than Daniel Pipes does here.

A dissertation may be appropriate (perhaps not) but in any event I'll restrict my comments to two simple examples.

Daniel writes about the Saudi inroads into Harvard and Georgetown Universities. The reality is that radical Islamic organizations, most funded by Wahhabiist Saudi interests, are making strong inroads into American secondary education, funding programs and buying textbooks for schools around the country. These programs and books, not surprisingly, teach a distorted view of America supported with revisionist history. This is not fantasy. It's happening right here, right now. Research it, read about it, learn about it, then do something about it. Otherwise in 10 years our children will have been so immersed in Saudi slanted education, you'll wonder why your kids hate you and love Jihad.

If you think that 10 years is very far away and that we'll have plenty of time to stop this reeducation of our children, you're in for a rude awakening. Remember that it was 8 years between the first World Trade Center attack and the second. And we thought it was over in 1993. Radical Islamists think in terms of generations, not Presidential administrations.

Heard of HT? Ask most Americans, you'll simply get a shrug. Some tech-savvy twenty and thirty something's will smile and tell you about Intel's Hyper Threading technology on the newer Pentiums. Now say "Hizb ut-Tahrir" -- the radical financial and ideological training ground for the next generation of hard core Jihadists. I could pontificate. It will be easier for every one of you to research this yourself. Google lists nearly 300,000 references to "Hizb ut-Tahrir". You need to know about this as well.

They are coming. They are determined, They are fanatics. And we're, by and large, clueless. We're too comfortable, too lazy, too worried about getting that on-sale HDTV before it's sold out. Jihad is a newspaper story. Something happening in Iraq, or Israel, or, well, somewhere else. In reality, it's happening now. Behind your back.

Do something!
