how long will the sleep last?

Reader comment on item: My Gloom: Back to September 10

I now understand the thesis proposed as to why Al Queda has not attacked recently. If they were to do us the "favor" of say- attacking yearly with one hundred or so deaths we might maintain some state of awakedness. The idea that they can't mount an attack because of their weakened condition is wishful thinking only.

A a youngster I participated in rat bashing at our local rendering company's building. We would rush in, throw on the lights and have it out (using our favorite bats) with hundreds of feasting rats. They fought back you ask? No they all put up their hands and surrendered.
In my estimation they will attack when they get the weapon needed. By 2008 they should have gotten themselves an efficient dirty bomb or a modern virus dispenser. Maybe even sooner if there is no Patriot act.
