still reason to hope

Your article is unsettling, and with good reason. Complacency is the root cause of many great disasters, and as you correctly point out, it is certainly in abundant supply both here and in Europe.

However when you say that we are fixed on perfecting Iraq to the point of ignoring the greater threat from Iran, it made me recall a demonstration done by a self defense instructor many years ago, on how to repel two assaliants. He first aggressively attacked one, and proceeded to the other only after the first was disabled. He thus avoided fighting both simultaneously.

There is no doubt that the war against Islamic fascism will eventually lead into both Syria and Iran. But we cannot militarily deal with three aggressors simultaneously, hence the point of the anecdote.


President Bush finally seems to realize that to be an effective wartime president he must also be a constant cheerleader- and in so doing must aggressively respond to both the elite mainstream media ( who viscerally despise him) and his political opponents ( who want him to fail). He also uses the words "Islam", "terror" and "war" in the same sentence; and this is a good thing.
