Reader comment on item: Musharraf's Historic Speech

If all the hate-propaganda against the Hindus was true why would there be need for a Project Joshua, to convert all the unreached with a specific target deadline? One doesn't see similar projects aimed at the Iraqis, Iranis or the Pakistanis, do we? It is a certificate to the tolerance of the Hindus that the Pope has visited India many times, asserted the Vatican's right to conversion, and failed to apologise for Catholic Inquisitions in Goa lasting over more than a century, cited by many Europeans as the most violent inquisitions on earth.

It is a fact that Catholic missionaries are the biggest landowners in Mumbai and all over India, the result of British largesse. They charge hefty "donations" from non-Catholic students, and the Missionary hospitals charge Five Star rates from patients.

This is not to deny dedicated indigenous social workers, but why must their dedication be bound to conversions?

A couple of months back, four American Jesuits were deported by Mumbai police, for undertaking conversions in a slum in Mumbai, while they were on tourist visas, and not on regular missionary visas. That was after they were given a merry chase by irate slum dwellers and had to make good their escape in an autorickshaw. Their captive crowd in a church, and this was at night, included several minor boys.

There's a lot of money into anti-India propaganda on the web, with an unholy nexus between the jihadis, communists pledged to violence, and missionaries! What a waste of money too. But Indians have served notice that they won't take things lying down any longer.
