Reader comment on item: Musharraf's Historic Speech

Submitted by a [keen] student of islam (India), Sep 26, 2005 at 03:33

This is a point by point comment on what Zee states.

Musharraf's Speech. Anyone with the least sense of reality would "burn" at what is obviously a pretense on Mushy's part. Read the speech he made to the nation a few days after 9/11. He said he was co-operating in the War Against Terror only in emulation of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who first made peace with the Meccans so he could deal with the Medinan Jews but later rescinded it and went on to capture Mecca!

Anti-Sikh Riots. The call for an independent Khalistan is most probably CIA/ISI inspired. Zee is totally unaware that Sikhism (especially the Khalsa persuasion) was instituted by Guru Gobind Singhji as a militant body of Hindus (till very recently, it was an established practice for eldest sons of Hindu households in Punjab to become Khalsa) banded together for the PROTECTION OF HINDUISM. And the 1984 Delhi riots were engineered by the Congress party, which in any case has always been inimical towards everything indigenous, including the persuasion of the majority. So, it would be naïve to generalize complicity of the Hindu in the anti-Sikh Congress Party initiated pogrom.

Violence against minorities. No minority community of any country in the world has it as good as that in India. The chief target of reactionary Hindu initiative, if at all, as Zee might find after honest analysis, is the missionary and his despicable trade, not the lay Christian; his statement about anti-Dalit violence is pure fiction. The Hindu has begun realizing (a little late in the day, no doubt) how proselytization is being used to denationalize neophytes. Like any other nationality, the Hindu has a right to protect his culture and territorial integrity, too. Moreover, Muslims don't have the exclusive privilege of ‘getting angry' for real or imagined injustice! Because an emasculated government is patently incapable of honestly perceiving and containing dangerous trends in demography being deliberately tampered with by vested international religio-commercial interests, the Hindu naturally needs to act on his own. And this finds expression in ire against anti-national missionary activity. No one, for instance, had begged Graham Staines to ‘please come and save us through Christ'. He went to India, flushed with funds, of his own volition at the behest of his employers – the Church, and provided sufficient provocation to indigenous culture for the latter to forget its tradition of amiable peacefulness and bonhomie for a while.

Human Rights Reports. No comment is really necessary about the credibility of all these "Rights Reports". It ought to be enough to mention that quite many of them are usually slick, lucrative jobs that supply justification for international arm-twisting. After all, if you want to shoot a dog, you need first to call it mad! Zee would do well to read these only when he has several handfuls of salt handy!

Secession. The fact that the other six states have become Christian clearly indicates how perilous is missionary activity for the unity and integrity of even peace loving nations!!
