Reader comment on item: Musharraf's Historic Speech

The Mushy laundromat has been busy of late in washing dirty linen across hate-filled communities, but its origins are so dirty that it tars all with its own brush.

India's record in affirmative action before and after Mahatma Gandhi and especially post-independence, is unmatched in any democratic country of the world to-date. This is something that the ethnic cleansing of the jihadi laundromat inc. will never understand!

Indians have been in the forefront in eradicating casteism from their midst, through intercaste marriages, government legislation, job reservations, reservations in educational institutions across the board. The results are there for all to see. The expansiveness and inclusiveness of Indian leadership before the end of colonialism was expressed in a Dalit Oxford Don being assigned the task of creating the Constitution of India at the time of Independence, adopted by the Republic of India in 1950. This was achieved from within Indian society, unchallenged across all regions and provinces. This is in sharp contrast to the Muslim opposition to a uniform civil code even in the 21st century! Hindus are so open, that the process of revision of laws and customs continues to this day to eradicate all social evil from their midst, as in the case of married daughers' right to father's property on par with the sons, just for one example. We have many improvements to make still, but considering the savage destruction of the Indian social fabric in the face of Islamic onslaught, Indians are deservedly proud of their accomplishments all around.

Indian reformers were in the forefront to eradicate social evils from within Indian society, and were eminently successful, which is why India is making such great strides on all fronts as an emerging democratic power after centuries of handicap!

When Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the Dalit architect of India's Constitution led the conversion of lower caste Hindus to Buddhism, he was not met with violence from any strata of Hindu society. That the great visionary rejected conversion to either Islam or Christianity, is itself a telling point.

Can anything either Pakistan or other Islamic societies have done for reform in their own societies, for their women, or for their minorities come anywhere near this peerless record of India? You may continue to stumble ...to score propaganda points against India. If only you would save on all the hot air and do something positive and concrete for Pakistan, you would not need to be so obsessed with India, which continues to make great strides despite all your pointed ill-will.
